Teriyaki Sauce

This homemade teriyaki sauce combines mirin, soy sauce and brown sugar with garlic, shallot and rice vinegar. Sambal oelek adds heat to this version. Simmer all the ingredients together for about ten minutes until syrupy, to coat stir-fried vegetables or accompany meat.

Ingredients

¼ c Brown sugar

¼ c Soy sauce

¼ c Mirin

2 tbsp Rice vinegar

1 tbsp Sambal oelek

1 Shallot, minced

2 Garlic cloves, chopped

Steps

In a small saucepan, mix all the ingredients.

Bring to a boil, then simmer over medium heat for about or until the sauce is syrupy.
